The famous writer, translator Mr. Ye Junjian once said: "Hong'an, has the research value in the world". As the only county which was named after "red", Hong'an had made so many miracles: it not only founded the earliest Red Army in the Chinese modern revolutionary history - the first armed forces of Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, moreover, it was also the area whose population of participating in the Long March was the most and the participating rate was the highest in China. This small place was once famous for its peaceful place and comfortable life, its 480,000 heroic children were all soldiers and nearly 200,000 sacrificed in the revolutionary war."200 generals were from the same hometown", Hong'an had made another miracle -the density of general was the first in the world. The special contribution which Hong'an had made to the Chinese revolution aroused the scholars' enormous research interest, and they have already obtained certain research results in this aspect. Basically all these research are based on history, military, politics, none of them are going ahead from the point of literature and folk literature, let alone from the point of ballad. The reasons lie in: First, quite a number of people think that the revolutionary songs "are merely revolutionary slogans in the revolutionary war, besides their illuminative revolutionary contents, they are far from any artistry and creativity", "Has not created any high esthetics work for the entire Chinese literary art history. Second, being an oral literature, it is deeply limited by the singing area and singing time, its contemporary transmittance is still in dispute. Should say that the revolutionary miracles of Hong'an benefited from the widespread influence of revolutionary songs which were full of gun smoke to a great extent. These kinds of ballads continued the tradition of ballad region, adapted to the historical situation, really portrayed the life and had accomplished the immortal work of Chinese art. Therefore this topic tries to outline the overall appearance of revolutionary songs of Hong'an and makes the contemporary explanation through the text analysis and field investigation. This dissertation is composed of two parts which are divided into eight chapters, with preface at the beginning and appendix at the end. The first part(Chapter 1-5) concentrates on the revolutionary time, regional culture, red resources and red classics, with applying tense method, it tries to explain the contemporary utilization of revolutionary songs and resinging the revolutionary classics. Chapter one is the premise and foundation of this research, it mainly describes the spatial surroundings such as natural environment and geographic location. It also looks into the Hong'an community's history and the current situation of its culture. Chapter two discusses the reasons why the revolutionary songs produced, thrived and the ways of its dissemination, it also deals with its subject contents and esthetic characteristics, the relations between art and time, art and politics. Chapter three examines all sorts of relations between revolutionary songs of Hong'an and regional culture. Chapter four tries to survey the contemporary available value and transmittance of revolutionary songs of Hong'an from the point of red resources. Chapter five examines the important guidance of revolutionary ballads to the spiritual activity and analyzes the reasons of resinging the red classics. The second part consists of three case studies (Chapter 6-8). By studying the birth and evolution of revolutionary songs, the transmitters of revolutionary songs and the village transmittance of revolutionary songs, it tries to trace the birth and evolution of the revolutionary songs and make the reasonable description and explanation of modern transmitting condition of revolutionary songs, meanwhile, it discusses all sorts of relations of songs and the region, songs and the individuals, songs and the community. Chapter six, from the point of text transmittance, mainly examines the birth and evolution of revolutionary songs and summarizes its dissemination rule through two case studies of "Everywhere of the sweet-scented osmanthus of August" and "Three Big Discipline Eight Points for Attention". Chapter seven, based on the study of the transmitters of revolutionary songs, descripes the regional distribution of the transmitters, discusses the contemporary transmitting condition of transmitters and points out the unique characteristics of the transmitters of revolutionary songs. Chapter eight, from the point of transmitting area, uses the questionnaire and the oral interview to inspect the villagers' awareness, understanding and protection consciousness to the revolutionary ballads and tries to promulgate the different status and functions of government, the society and individuals in the revolutionary ballad protection. This topic tries to conduct the three-dimensional research to the revolutionary songs of Hong'an, by using the related theories of art criticism, cultural science, sociology, folk literature, folklore and esthetics, and unifying the research technique of field investigation and oral history, hoping it can fill the research blank of revolutionary songs of Hong'an, This research hopes to make achievements in three aspects: First, probes into the historical perspective and basic condition of specific time of revolutionary songs through the typical case study of revolutionary songs of Hong'an; Second, analyzes the relation between revolutionary songs and regional culture; Third, inspects the vital role of revolutionary songs in red traveling and resinging the red classics.
