SYSU Second International Conference on Food and Culture
Theme: People, Ecology and Food
The Anthropology Department of Sun Yat-sen University organized the first international conference on food and culture in October 2016, with the theme Chinese Food and Culture in Global Perspective. Following this very successful conference, the Department will organize the second conference with the theme of “People, Ecology and Food”. This conference will provide a platform for scholars to exchange views on the study of people/ethnic groups living in diverse ecologies in relation to food and foodways. The topics comprise the following: (i) transmission and transformation of the food heritage of ethnic groups; (ii) indigenous people, ecology and food; (iii) migration and food; (iv) food safety and health; (v) other topics related to the conference themes.

Deadline to submit abstract and brief bio-note by email attachment: 30 January 2017
[The bio-note should be only one page in length indicating name, affiliation, title (e.g. Prof., Dr, Ms, etc), gender (may be useful for accommodation arrangement), and list not more than five items of publications]
Confirmation of participation: The conference secretariat will confirm participation by 28 February 2018.
