国际民俗学者组织
Folklore Fellows (FF)



       一个致力于在世界各国民俗学者中开展合作和交流的国际性学术组织。该组织于1907年创建于赫尔辛基,其发起人是芬兰学者卡尔·科隆(Kaarle Krohn,1863~1933)和丹麦学者阿克塞尔·奥利克(Axel Olrik 1864~1917)。前任主席为芬兰著名的民俗学家、史诗研究专家劳里·杭柯(Lauri Honko);现任主席是芬兰民俗学家、比较宗教学家安娜-利纳·斯卡拉(Anna-Leena Siikala),工作基地设在芬兰土尔库大学卡勒瓦拉研究所。

      1908年芬兰科学院(其前身是创建于1838年的芬兰科学学会)成立之后,将该组织正式纳入其学科机制的管理体系中,赫尔辛基大学的芬兰语教授、比较文学研究专家、芬兰“历史─地理学派”(Historical-geographical School)的奠基人卡尔·科隆成为该组织的领军人物,并于1910年创办了该组织的学术著作出版体系“民俗学者交流”(Folklore Fellows Communications, FFC),在国际口头传承和民俗学研究领域一直享有极高声誉。尽管“民俗学者组织”作为一个国际化的学术共同体,在后来的几十年间几经起落,一度沉寂,但每年坚持在“民俗学者交流”书系中出版3至5卷专著,则反映着该组织创建人科隆和许多国家民俗学者一直共享的学术理想和研究理念,即加强民俗学研究的国际合作和交流。

      上个世纪的80年代后期,世界各地的民俗学者开始了更紧密的合作。芬兰科学院的四位民俗学院士劳里·杭柯、马蒂·库斯(Matti Kuusi), 丽亚·维尔塔恩(Leea Virtanen)和安娜-利纳·斯卡拉也形成了新的共识,除沿用原有“民俗学者组织”(Folklore Fellows)的名称有其历史性纪念意义外,应当将其学术活动从单一的出版活动推向更广阔的信息交流、学术研讨和专业培训等方面,并在此基础上从世界各地吸纳全职会员、荣誉会员和通讯会员,扩建为一个国际化的民俗学者组织工作网络。1990年3月,芬兰科学院通过了这四位民俗学院士递交的提案,同时成立了由这四位学者组成的第一届执行委员会,同年年底从第一批会员中产生了国际顾问委员会。杭柯被任命为两个组织机构的主席,一直担纲着国际民俗学者组织的领导工作,禅精竭力地为推进国际民俗学的发展贡献了自己毕生的心血和精力。2002年7月,杭柯和维尔塔恩这两位民俗学家相继去世,芬兰科学院新增补了三位执委,并在同年任命自1995年起就担任着副主席的安娜-利纳·斯卡拉为“国际民俗学者组织”的主席,兼任“民俗学者交流”书系和《民俗学者网络》通讯的主编。

      在刚刚过去的十多年间,国际民俗学者组织在杭柯教授的领导下,主要致力于以下三方面的工作:1)通过《民俗学者网络》(FFN)这一通讯工作平台,加强世界范围内的民俗学研究者之间的学术联系;2) 继续出版“民俗学者交流”书系(FFC)以推进研究著述的发表与学术成果的传播;3)办好“民俗学者暑期学校”(FFSS),开展跨地区、跨机构的民俗学专业培训。

      该组织一直在芬兰科学院的领导和资助下开展工作,对内设有执行委员会,由3至5位芬兰民俗学家组成,主席由芬兰科学院直接任命;对外设有的国际学术顾问委员会,由10位世界各国杰出的民俗学专家组成,包括执委会成员。据芬兰科学院学部于1990年通过《国际民俗学者组织章程》的条款,其会员资格分为全权会员、通讯会员和荣誉会员三种;全权会员以不超过100人为限,其中的四分之一必须是欧州和北美以外的专家学者,并从中产生国际学术顾问委员会的委员。目前会员人数已经达到650人,均为各国有突出学术成就的民俗学者。为切实加强会员之间的学术联系,适时发布出版信息、科研教学动态和前沿性学术成果,该组织每年出版两期学术动态《民俗学者网络》(Folklore Fellows Network, FFN),免费向会员寄送,每期的总发送量达1,300份,到2003年年底已累计出版了25期(到目前为止出版了32期──编者注),并通过国际互联网及时进行在线发布。

      从1910年至今,国际民俗学者组织始终依托由芬兰科学院主办并资助出版的“民俗学者交流书系”(FFC)开展国际合作与学术交流。这套出版物实际上是民俗学专论系列丛书,编委会办公室设在土尔库大学,由芬兰科学院在赫尔辛基市出版、发行;作者大多是世界各国的民俗学者和口头传承专家,基本上是一集一题,每年出版3到5种;出版语言多为英文、芬兰索米文和德文,篇幅从数十页至数百页不等;内容涉及的研究领域主要包括民俗学、比较宗教学、文化人类学和民族学,并以无形文化研究为主,口头传统、民间信仰、神话与仪式、方法论以及相关学术史一直是其出版规划中的重中之重,先后出版了一系列重要的民俗学类型索引和专题研究著作,至2003年12月已达282种,其中不少专集在国际民俗学界产生了极其深远的学术影响,如阿尔奈(Antti Aarne)的《民间故事类型索引》(FFC 184), 汤普森(Stith Thompson)的《民间文学母题索引》(FFC 106~109, 116~117))、丁乃通的《中国民间故事类型索引》(FFC 223)、艾伯华的《中国民间故事类型》(FFC 120)、哈达·詹森(Heda Jason)的《母题、类型与文类》(FFC 273)、阿兰·邓迪斯(Alan Dundes)的《北美印第安传说的形态学研究》(FFC 195)、琳达·德格(Linda Degh)的《社会中的叙事:以表演者为中心的叙事研究》(FFC 255)、劳里·杭柯的《斯里史诗的文本化》(FFC 264) 、安娜-利纳·斯卡拉(Anna-Leena Siikala)的《西伯利亚萨满的仪式技术》(FFC 220)和《口头叙事的阐释》(FFC 245)等。

      在杭柯教授的积极倡议下,该组织于1991年正式创办了“国际民俗学者组织暑期学校”(FFSS),得到了联合国教科文组织(UNESCO)的高度重视和经费上的资助。暑期学校的组织委员会在芬兰国内大学的六个民俗学系之间协调产生,按计划暑期学校每两年在芬兰国内举办一期,其培训方式有讨论工作组、田野考察和专题讲座,聘请来自芬兰、德国、美国、爱尔兰、挪威、瑞典等国的著名专家学者担任各讨论工作组的主持教授,学员则来自世界各地科研院所有一定资历的民俗学者,结业时均可获得“国际民俗学者组织”的通讯会员资格。每期培训都设有研讨主题,发放专门汇编的课程资料,为学员提供专门的民俗学图书馆和网络计算机,以不强调师生界限、平等对话、共同参与的互动性讨论为特点,讨论话题基本上围绕着国际民俗学研究的前沿性理论成果和方法论展开,如“民俗过程”、“传统及其复兴”、“传统与认同冲突”、“传统、地方性与多元化的文化进程”、“变异、文本性与文献遗产”、“记忆、回忆与创造性”等,有的课程培训资料则通过FFC得以结集出版。从1991年到2002年该组织的暑期学校已成功地完成了5期国际培训,以高水平的、密集化的讨论课程和强化训练,为世界各国(包括中国)培养了一批批从事民俗学研究的专门化高级人才,其中的大部分学员已经成为各国民俗学研究领域的中坚力量。

      在开展以上三项中心工作的同时,国际民俗学者组织还通过学术会议、合作研究、专题出版等方式,在世界范围内召集各国知名学者围绕特定的研究对象和共同的学术旨趣,长期进行专题学术讨论,尤其是在口头史诗、社会性别、民俗学者职业道德等方面,形成了专门的学者队伍和系列化的研究成果,除通过该组织的官方网站向学界及时进行发布外,有的活动则直接纳入到了联合国教科文组织的研究项目中,有的成果则在“民俗学者交流”书系中正式出版。

      国际民俗学者组织不仅有着历史悠久的学术传统,而且通过芬兰民俗学家和世界各国民俗学者长此不懈的共同努力和友好合作,在运作方式、管理机制和开展学术活动等方面也形成了与时俱进的一整套学术理念,其《民俗学者网络》(FFN)、“民俗学者交流”书系(FFC)、“民俗学者暑期学校”(FFSS)体现出高度专业化的民俗学精神。该组织业已成为世界范围内规模最大、组织甚为严密的国际性民俗学专业团体,赢得了国际社会的广泛尊重,也得到了联合国教科文组织的高度评价。
