但是,如果就这样轻易地给社会学贴上甘于寂寥和坐冷板凳的标签,则是大谬不然。实际上,社会学亦具有一种强烈的帝国主义情结,这种诉求与生俱来,生生不息。当然,社会学的帝国主义情结既不是指要与经济学一争高下,也不仅仅指社会学在研究对象上不分青红皂白,一股脑儿地把所有社会性存在都揽入自己怀中,而主要的是指社会学对充当总体性社会科学(total social science)与元科学(meta-science)角色的不懈追求。
