8.If a man in the morning hear the right way,he may die in the evening without regret.(Legge)
15.The Master said,"Shen! My Way has one (thread) that runs through it."...Master Tseng said," Our Master's Way is simply this: Loyalty, consideration."(Waley)
而在“吾道一以贯之”中,理雅各把“道”译成doctrine(主义,原则,学说)。
把“恕”译为the benevolent exercise of them to others(对人宽厚地运用这些原则),译文显得繁琐。
8.If a man knows in the morning the right way of living(or how to live),he may die in the evening without regret.
15.The Master said," Shen, you know how my principle can be simplified?"...Master Zeng said,"Our master's principle can be simplified into loyalty and leniency."
Never do to others what you would not like them to do to you.
What I do not wish men to do to me,I also wish not to do to others.
Now the man of perfect virtue, seeking to be established himself seeks also to establish others;seeking to be enlarged himself,he seeks also to enlarge others.
